Sherwood District Court: Week of July 19, 2007



July 6

Thefts

Julie Nichols of North Little Rock said she dropped her car off at the Crain Kia car lot on Warden Road, left the keys in it at 3:51 p.m. with service personnel, and then was told by dealership personnel that someone had stolen her 2005 Kia Sedona van, valued at $16,000. According to the police report, dealership personnel had advised her that they had contacted other Kia locations to make sure the vehicle was not inadvertently moved. Nichols told police her vehicle is insured.

Anna Harper of Little Rock said she had taken her mother to the Social Security office on Kiehl Avenue when she accidentally left her vehicle unlocked. Her purse was stolen by an unknown person. The purse had $500 in cash and some credit cards.

July 7

Charged

Booker Megee was charged with possession of a controlled substance, furnishing prohibited articles (C felony), and public intoxication. During the same incident, Jennifer Roberson of Sherwood was charged with possession of a controlled substance, disorderly conduct and public intoxication. The charges resulted after police were dispatched to the All-Stars Bar on Warden Road to investigate alleged illegal drug activity, according to the police report.

Zimri Monroe of Benton was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, suspended license, no proof of insurance and driving left of center. During the same incident, Atallah Kassees of North Little Rock was charged with public intoxication and possession of drug paraphernalia. The charges resulted when their vehicle allegedly sped off southbound on Landers Road after police observed a Chevy pickup parked in the middle of Landers.

Jeffrey Gibson of Sherwood was charged with domestic battery/third degree after police were called to his Ridgetop Drive home to investigate a domestic disturbance.

Accidents

Michael Dudoich of Little Rock told police he accidentally ran over a gas meter along East Lee Street, thus breaking a gas line. CenterPoint Energy was contacted to send a technician to repair the gas leak. Dudoich’s truck sustained $500 in damages, according to the police report.

A private property accident was reported at the North Point Volkswagen dealership where customer Dylan Wright of Little Rock had left his car to be serviced. Wes Thomas of Sherwood said that after Wright had left, his vehicle began to roll forward and struck Wright’s vehicle. A total of $500 in damages resulted.

Marion McGee of Hensley said she was loading her car with items at the Dollar General Store on Highway 107 when her vehicle’s front bumper was struck by another vehicle driven by Bethyl Bomar of North Little Rock. A total of $300 in damages resulted. No citations were issued.

Mark Love of Cabot said he was eastbound on Kiehl Avenue when an unknown white car, possible a Honda Accord, hit his truck in the rear. According to the police report, Love waved the unknown vehicle down to stop in a nearby bank parking lot, but the other driver left the scene. Minimal damage was reported to Love’s truck.

Erika Jordan of North Little Rock said her vehicle was in a parking space on the east side of Warden Road at the Midas Muffler Shop. When she backed her vehicle up, she struck the building, causing $500 in damage to the building and $300 to her own vehicle.

July 8

Thefts

Suzie Mitchell of Sherwood said she wired $3,700 to two Houston, Texas, men to purchase a 2002 Nissan Altima. She told police she was given the vehicle identification number and did research on the vehicle. She was informed the vehicle would be shipped to her within three days from July 2. She told police she never received the vehicle.

Accidents

Patrick McDermott of North Little Rock said he was southbound on Highway 107, crossing its intersection with Kiehl Avenue, when the vehicle in front of him slowed down, resulting in him hitting the rear of the vehicle, driven by Robert Banks Jr. of Shreveport, La. Neither party claimed injuries in the accident that caused $900 in damages. McDermott was found to be at fault and was cited for unsafe driving.

Charged

Chad Kennedy of Sherwood was cited for vehicle brake light, no proof of insurance, fictitious license plate, failure to register vehicle and possession of a controlled substance (C felony). During the same incident, Brandy Davis of Jacksonville was cited for public intoxication and disorderly conduct. The charges resulted after their vehicle was stopped by police on Kiehl Avenue for having a break light out.

Michael Kivlehen of Conway was charged with DWI, refusal to submit to a sobriety test and no tail lamps after police stopped his vehicle at a Brookswood car lot for not having a license plate light.

Incidents

Nancy Patterson of Sherwood said $1,000 worth of damage was done by unknown persons to her South Claremont Street home. According to the police report, it appears that a vehicle or trailer backed up into her yard and over some of the landscaping.

Wayne Pavan of Sherwood said his truck’s rear sliding glass had been shattered, which had a value of $450. He told police he saw two rocks on top of his toolbox in the bed of his truck that could have been used to break the rear window.

July 9

Charged

Randall Darrough of Cabot was charged with public intoxication and a Ward juvenile was released to her mother with a curfew violation as a result of police conducting a property check at the Exxon gasoline station on Indianhead Drive. Police observed them standing in front of the entrance door when the check was done at 2:20 a.m.

John Herida of Alexander was charged with possession of a controlled substance/second offense, possession of drug paraphernalia/second offense, DWI, refusal to submit to a sobriety test, obstructing government operations and careless/prohibited driving. The arrests took place after police observed him standing in front of a Woodview Drive drinking what appeared to be beer.

Thefts

James Boyd of Sherwood said sometime after 3 a.m. the tires and rims of his 2006 Dodge Charger, valued at $2,200, were stolen by an unknown person while it was parked at Pavilion Apartments on East Maryland Street.

An African American man, only known as Marcus, is being sought by police for allegedly stealing a $37,670 car from Frank Fletcher Dodge on Highway 167, according to a police report. The man told one of Fletcher’s salesmen that he wanted to take the car for test drive. Once in the black 2007 Chrysler 300 he sped off, and was seen entering the highway, heading south.

July 10

Charged

Anthony Baggett of Sherwood was charged with careless/prohibited driving and DWI after police observed his vehicle driving without a rear tail lamp on Highway 107.

Daniel Mackey of Sherwood was charged with theft by receiving, driving on a suspended license, and was served additional arrest warrants after police were in the area of the Links Apartments.

Thefts

Pat Murtha of Sherwood said his cargo trailer, valued at $2,000, and a $500 panel board were stolen while at his Manson Road residence.

David Hardison of Sherwood reported that his $600 trailer had been stolen from his Oakridge Road residence.

July 11

Accidents

A FedEx delivery man told police he stopped his vehicle in front of a North Hills Boulevard address to make a delivery and it was struck from behind by another vehicle driven by Nicole Harris of North Little Rock. Harris was found to be at fault for following too closely.

Thefts

Chris Williams of North Little Rock said his $100 cell phone was stolen at the Sylvan Hills ball fields on July 5 while he was at the concession stand.

Richard Penn of Sherwood said $2,000 in electrical wiring was stolen from a construction site on Glen Hills Drive.

Chris Turner of Sherwood said $2,000 worth of electric wiring was stolen from a house being built on Indian Bay.

July 12

Accidents

Donnie Burrow of Sherwood said he was at a complete stop at the intersection of Highway 107 and North Hills Boulevard when another vehicle, driven by Juan Perez of Sherwood, struck his driver’s side door. Perez said he tried to avoid the collision, but was struck by another vehicle driven by Nancy Brown of North Little Rock. After police conducted their investigation, they found Brown at fault for failure to yield to oncoming traffic, and she was issued a citation. Perez was cited for having no driver’s license. The accident resulted in $1,100 in damages.

Thefts

Loretta Barker-Falls of Bald Knob said she accidentally left her vehicle unlocked at Crain Mitsubishi on Landers Road and later learned that her $1,000 laptop computer had been stolen.

John Hardcastle of Sherwood said his $200 tiller was taken from his front yard on West Maryland.
